To most tribes the turtle also represents healing, wisdom, spirituality, health, safety, longevity, protection, and fertility. Some Native Americans believe that the turtle contributed to creation because the turtle dove into the primeval waters to retrieve mud to create Mother Earth. Additionally, the shell of the turtle represents protection and perseverance.

The Circle of Life, is often depicted in the Medicine Wheel which contains color meanings and symbolism. The circle and the four equal parts and colors of the medicine wheel represent the lifespan of man and its colors and meanings are as follows:

No one Medicine Wheel is the Medicine Wheel for all of Native America. The differences as mentioned are extremely wide. One must also remember that the Medicine Wheel is exceptionally individual. A person can develop their own Medicine Wheel that has their own Animal/Spirit Helpers. This knowledge may happen in ceremony, visions, or dreams and other. This type of Medicine Wheel can be so private that only the person and The Creator are aware of its existence.

Voor momenten waneer ik te veel "in mijn hoofd zit", te veel aan het piekeren ben, wanneer mijn hoofd "vol" zit maak ik een voeldoek met symbolen in verschillende materialen zodat ik de stoffen/andere materialen kan voelen en daardoor rustig kan worden. Door het voelen aan de stof kan ik "aarden" en ontspannen. De geur kan ook een rol in spelen.
Een soort stoffencollage waarin ik mijn symbolen verwerk. Door in het tactiele te gaan, kan ik tot rust komen. Een soort van "ritueeldeken"

Ik kan het ophangen maar ook als deken gebruiken.

In de stoffencollage verwerk ik de gebreide vormen van in het begin van het jaar en de gekleurde lapjes stof. Ik ga op zoek naar verschillende texturen en natuurlijke materialen die goed en ontspannend aanvoelen voor mij. Geuren zoals lavendel, ylang ylang, wol... Ik zoek een boeiende combinatie tussen texturen, geuren en mijn eigen symbolentaal.

Het is ook een project dat niet echt af kan zijn, ik kan er blijven aan toevoegen.

Ik vertrekt van een grote lap stof als drager en bevestig daaraan telkens de dingen die ik creëer. Het is een combinatie van symbolen en texturen die voor mij rustgevend zijn.
